1. Knocked-Out Tooth (Avulsion)
This is one of the most stressful dental emergencies, but time is critical. If you act within 30 minutes, there is a high chance the tooth can be re-implanted.
- Do: Pick the tooth up by the crown (the white chewing part), never the root.
- Do: Gently rinse the tooth with milk or saline if it’s dirty. Do not scrub it.
- Do: Try to place the tooth back into the socket gently. Bite down on a clean cloth to hold it in place.
- If you can’t reinsert it: Keep the tooth moist by placing it in a cup of milk or saliva (not water).

2. Severe Toothache or Abscess
A toothache that prevents sleep or swelling in the face/jaw usually indicates an infection.

4. Lost Filling or Crown

- Do: Apply a small amount of clove oil to the sensitive area with a cotton swab to numb pain.
- Do: You can use dental cement (available at pharmacies) to temporarily cover the tooth.
